What is NuDoxy 100 used for?

Doxpyen-100 capsules 100 mg are a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in various parts of the body.  Conditions that NuDoxy 100 capsules 100 mg are used for include: chest infections like pneumonia and bronchitis; urinary tract infections; sexually transmitted diseases; Infections due to Chlamydia including uncomplicated urethral, endocervical or rectal infections; some bacterial eye infections like trachoma, caused by Chlamydia.  NuDoxy 100 is also used to treat severe acne; and with other medicines to treat intestinal amoebiasis, a parasitic gut infection.  NuDoxy 100 is are also used to treat Lyme disease, which is caused by infection with the bacteria Borrelia, transmitted by a bite from the black-legged tick or deer tick and is the most common tick-borne infection in both North America and Europe.  Symptoms of Lyme disease include erythema migrans, a circular spreading rash, flu-like symptoms, joint pain and neurological problems.  NuDoxy 100 capsules 100mg are also useful for treating infections with Rickettsiae, which is a bacteria transmitted by ticks and lice and causes infections like rocky mountain spotted fever and typhus fever.

How does NuDoxy 100 work?

NuDoxy100 capsules 100mg contain Doxycycline, which is a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the tetracycline group of antibiotics, with antibacterial activity against a wide range of bacteria, including Rickettsiae, Chlamydia, Streptococcus, Haemophilus, Klebsiella, Mycoplasma.  Doxycycline in NuDoxy 100 inhibits protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria by blocking the transcription stage, which is reading the protein message from the bacterial RNA.  This action prevents the bacteria from producing essential proteins needed for growth, repair and replication and prevents the spread of infection.

What are the side effects of NuDoxy100?

The most commonly reported side effects when taking NuDoxy 100 include anorexia, diarrhoea, nausea, sore tongue (glossitis), difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), heartburn or indigestion due to irritation of the oesophagus, inflammation of the colon (enterocolitis), swelling and itching in the anal and genital areas, staining of the teeth, loss of tooth enamel.

When should NuDoxy 100 not be used?

You should not use NuDoxy 100 capsules if you:

• are allergic to doxycycline or other tetracycline antibiotics or any ingredients in NuDoxy 100
• are pregnant or are breastfeeding
• are under 12 years of age
• are taking other medication that interacts with NuDoxy 100 capsules, including penicillin antibiotics, barbiturates, phenytoin for epilepsy, the anticoagulant warfarin
• are taking supplements or vitamins that contain iron preparations, which may reduce the absorption of doxycycline

How should NuDoxy 100 be taken?

You should take your NuDoxy 100 capsules 100mg once daily with a glass of water with food, preferably just before a meal, to reduce stomach effects.  The dose you take should be as recommended by your doctor, usually 2 capsules on the first day and then 1 tablet for the rest of your prescribed course, which may be a few days or weeks, depending on what you are being treated for.  You should continue to take your NuDoxy 100 capsules even if you feel better, until you have completed the prescribed course of treatment.

How long should you take NuDoxy 100?

You should continue to take your NuDoxy 100 capsules for as long as recommended by your doctor, which will depend on what you are being treated for.

Missed dose of NuDoxy 100

If you miss a dose of NuDoxy 100 take it as soon as you remember, unless it is time to take the next dose, then skip the missed dose.  Do not take a double dose.

How should NuDoxy 100 be stored?

You should store your NuDoxy 100 below 25°C in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight.
